Substrates & Samples
Substrates:
Non-Woven Matte — A smooth, versatile wallpaper substrate ideal for residential interiors and light commercial spaces, offering a refined finish for everyday applications.
Natural Grass Weave — A textural, premium finish best suited to low-traffic residential and boutique hospitality, where its natural variation adds warmth and character.
Commercial⁺ Vinyl — A durable, hard-wearing option ideal for high-traffic commercial spaces including hospitality, retail, offices and public areas. The commercial vinyl comes in a range of substrate textures — please contact us for more options and to receive samples of the offering.
Samples:
We always recommend ordering a sample before selecting your wallpaper. It's the best way to experience the colours, texture and scale of the design in your space before making your final choice.
Our samples are A4 (29.7 x 21cm) and are perfect for viewing the colours, details and finish of the wallpaper.
Please keep in mind that colours can vary between screens and devices, so viewing a physical sample is always recommended. Samples are pre-cut and provide a guide to colour, scale and finish, so may not feature every element of the full design.

Colour Accuracy:
Designer Boys wallpaper is made to order, and minor colour and finish variations may occur between material batches and separate print runs. Colour can also present differently across substrates due to variations in texture, composition and finish, meaning the same design may not appear identical when printed on different materials. We strongly recommend ordering a sample in your chosen substrate prior to placing your order to provide the most accurate guide to colour and finish.
Where possible, we recommend ordering all wallpaper required for the same wall or project together to ensure it is produced within the same print run. Reprints and continuation orders can be produced when the original order details are referenced, and we will endeavour to match previous production as closely as possible; however, an exact match between separate print runs, material batches or substrates cannot be guaranteed.
For any questions or tailored assistance prior to placing your order, our dedicated Customer Care team would be delighted to assist.
WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVEPanels & Repeats
Designer Boys wallpaper is supplied in individual, pre-cut panels, made to order for your project and designed to be installed in sequence from left to right. This makes installation more streamlined, with each panel prepared to suit your selected design and wall dimensions. Choose from our Straight Match, Offset Match or Mural Repeat designs, each offering a different pattern flow and effect. Whether you prefer a consistent repeat, a staggered composition or the impact of a larger-scale mural, there's a repeat style to suit your space.
How Do I Know Which Repeat Style My Design Is?
Every Designer Boys wallpaper design has its own Specification Sheet, available within the description on each product page. Here, you'll find additional details and important information specific to your chosen design.
Our Repeat Styles:
Straight Match and Offset Match designs can repeat continuously both horizontally and vertically, making them suitable for walls of virtually any size. Mural Repeat designs can also continue horizontally across wider walls; however, they have a set maximum height and are available in our standard 2.4m and 2.7m wall heights.
Straight Match
The design repeats at the same point each time, creating a consistent and evenly aligned pattern that flows seamlessly across the entire wall.
Offset Match
The design repeats at a staggered point, creating a more varied pattern with a natural sense of movement and flow. (NOTE: Our Panels are designed to equate for this shift, so no offset is needed in the install).
Mural Repeat
Our Mural Repeat designs feature a larger-scale composition that flows across three panels (180cm) before repeating, creating the look and impact of a mural.
All panels have 2.5cm Double-Cut overlap added to either side of the design for installation.
Red dashed lines above indicate Double-Cut Overlap.
BEFORE YOU ORDERMeasuring Your Walls
To ensure you order the correct amount of wallpaper for your walls, please complete the following steps:
- Measure your wall height from floor to ceiling at multiple points of the wall. Make note of the tallest measurement to ensure the wallpaper will cover the entire wall. This will be your wall height. Additional allowance for trimming will
automatically be added to the calculation, so you don't have to worry about it! This will be your wall height. - Measure your wall width from one end to the other. This will be your wall width.
- Repeat this process 2–3 times to ensure you are confident with your wall measurements.
- Input your measurements into our wallpaper calculator located on the page of your chosen design and place your order.
For walls with more unique architectural details, such as angled corners, curves or varying ceiling heights, we recommend consulting a professional wallpaper installer to ensure your space is measured accurately and ready for installation.

Wallpaper Installation
Double-Cut Application:
Double-Cut, also known as Overlap and Splice, is a wallpaper installation method where two panels overlap before both layers are cut through the centre of the overlap. The excess material is then removed, creating a clean, seamless join. This method creates a less visible join and allows the installer to correct for wall movement at each seam rather than accumulating errors across the wall.
Designer Boys wallpaper is designed specifically for Double-Cut installation. Alternative installation methods may affect the pattern repeat and result in visible or incorrectly aligned joins.
It is important that your installer is aware that they will only be receiving panels for Double-Cut installation. Your installer needs to be confident installing as Double Cut.
HANG THE PANELS
Hang the first strip to the left of the wall. Hang the next strip to the right, overlapping the edge by 2.5cm.
DOUBLE-CUT
Using a sharp blade and straight edge, cut through both layers down the centre of the overlap.
REMOVE TRIM & SMOOTH
Remove the trimmed waste from both strips. Gently press an smooth the seams for a perfect finish.
Designer Boys Wallpaper has been specifically designed and produced for Double-Cut installation. Installing the product using an alternative method may compromise the pattern alignment, joins and overall finish. Double-Cut is a preferred installation method for premium wallcoverings for several key reasons:
- Industry-standard installation: Double-Cut installation is a widely used professional method for premium wallpapers.
- Accommodates wall irregularities: Provides greater flexibility where walls are uneven, not perfectly straight or have slight surface irregularities.
- Allows for natural movement: Non-woven wallpaper can naturally expand or contract slightly over time. Double-Cut installation helps accommodate these subtle changes for a cleaner, more seamless finish.
- Greater flexibility during installation: The overlap gives installers more room to adjust positioning and pattern alignment.
- More adaptable than a butt join: Butt join installation requires adjoining panels to align precisely edge-to-edge.
- A recognised professional technique: An experienced professional installer will be familiar and confident with Double-Cut installation.

Paste-the-wall vs Paste-the-Paper
Paste-the-Wall is the term used to describe an installation method where wallpaper adhesive is applied directly to the prepared wall rather than to the wallpaper itself. Each panel is then positioned onto the pasted wall for a simple and efficient installation. This method applies to our Non-Woven and Natural Grass Weave substrates.
Paste-the-Paper is the term used to describe an installation method where wallpaper adhesive is applied directly to the back of the wallpaper, rather than to the wall. The adhesive is left to soak into the wallpaper for the required time before each panel is positioned onto the prepared wall. This method applies to our Commercial Vinyl substrate.
