Chris de Hoog

Chris de Hoog's layered, expressive paintings draw on nature, memory, and colour, shaped by an intuitive process that allows each work to evolve organically on the canvas. Beginning many of his paintings with leftover marks and accidental colour, Chris builds rich textures and unexpected details that celebrate imperfection. His work responds directly to gesture, emotion, and materiality. The result is a body of abstract paintings that balance what is revealed and what is concealed—inviting viewers into a quiet, atmospheric space between landscape and memory.
